Le groupe Rassemblement National défend l'urgence d'effectuer un recensement de la population étrangère à Mayotte depuis la loi d'urgence en février, car c'est l'élément sine qua non de toute projet de refondation de ce département français. En effet, toutes les mesures de reconstruction évoquées dans ce projet de loi dépendent d'une jauge de population pour savoir si la puissance publique reconstruira pour 300 000 ou 500 000 personnes, jauge qui aujourd'hui reste floue. L'urgence de la popualtion requière de se concentrer sur les populations étrangères, afin d'expulser au plus vite les populations en situation irrégulière vers leurs pays d'origine, et de lancer dans les mois qui viennent la reconstruction d'infrastructures ou d'habitations réservées aux mahorais.
